World Series Game 7 Captures 51 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51 million viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this represents the highest-rated World Series finale since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

Last Saturday’s epic contest drew 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the last Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, the fourth game was seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a single network in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The entire seven-match series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership was over 16 million. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09M viewers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
